Youghal is a town located on the south coast of Ireland in County Cork. Its name is derived from the Gaelic Irish word Eochaill meaning Yew wood, a reference to the abundance of Yew trees which once covered the area. The town's population is approximately 7,000 people with a population hinterland of circa 15,000. Situated 30 miles (48kms) from Cork city, 60 miles from Waterford city and 240 miles from Dublin, Youghal is on the main Cork - Rosslare route (N25).
